Super Simple, Super Healthy, Super Yummy!

Today I want to talk about a show that I've recently discovered. It's called The Chew. I don't know how many of you watch it or know of it but I was really pulled in yesterday. The title of the show was "Let's Get Physical". Since one of my new years resolutions is to eat better I thought I would share with you some things that I learned from the show yesterday.

They did a segment on substitutions, one of the substitutions that caught my eye was the tuna melt. We all know that tuna melts are really high in calories between the bread, the mayo, and the cheese. The substitution they made was the Sweet Potato Tuna Melt.

I was looking at these on my television and thought that I really wanted to try it! This is an excellent way to cut down on the calories. From the sweet potato you get high amounts of nutrients for very little calories, this is also very filling. Here is the recipe! I encourage you to try this!

Ingredients:
  • 1 large sweet potato (halved)
  • 3/4 cup of canned tuna
  • 1/2 cup of nonfat mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of roasted garlic onion seasoning
  • 1/2 cup of shredded part skim milk mozzarella cheese
  • lemon pepper to taste
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place potatoes cut side down on greased baking sheet until tender, about 30 minutes.
  2. Remove potatoes from oven and cool. Meanwhile, combine tuna, mayo and spices in a bowl and mix until well combined.
  3. Top potatoes with tuna, sprinkle cheese over top and place in the broiler until cheese melts, about one minute. Serve Hot.
And there you have it, its super simple and super easy!

The next thing I want to share with you is a Blueberry Banana Juice. This looks a little funky but tastes amazing! Super simple and super tasty!

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of blueberries
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 English cucumber
  • 4 cups of spinach
  • 1/2 cup of mint
Directions:
  1. Put all ingredients in a juicer. Stir to combine the juices and enjoy!
These are both very simple and very healthy for you! I hope you give them a try!

Until Next Time

Happy New Year!

I frist want to start out by saying, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you all had a safe a wonderful holiday.

Onto todays post, new year's resolutions... I want to post about some of the more popular resolutions. Maybe some of these resolutions are what you made :)

1. Fitness. This is probably one of the most popular of all new years resolutions. We all know the benefits of regular exercise; it keeps you healthy and helps you look and feel better! This is an excellent resolution to keep, for this year and many years beyond.

2. Quit Smoking. This also is a great resolution, although it is not the easiest to keep. Nicotine replacement treatments that you can now get at just about any drug store; these are proven to help you quit smoking. Even if you've tried to quit before and failed, don't let it discourage you; most people who try to quit don't actually quit the first time. Smoking is one of the worst habits you can form, so try kicking it this year!

3. Eat Healthy Food. This goes along with the fitness resolution. Eating healthy food is a great way of adding to your fitness resolution. The combination of eating healthy and exercising regularly will have you feeling better and living a more active and healthy lifestyle.

4. Learn Something New. I think this is one of my favorite resolutions. Learning something new helps boost your confidence and helps you feel as if you've accomplished something. You can do something as difficult as learning a new language or changing your career or something as simple as learning how to fix your own computer.

5. Spend More Time with Family and Friends. This is the most important resolution. Spending quality time with friends and family makes you a happier person and lets those you love know that you love them.

So those are some popular new year's resolutions. Let's all try and keep our resolutions and have a safe and happy year!

Until Next Time!
